BED in the DSM-5: Implications for Improving Detection, Intervention and Knowledge About Effective Treatment

Binge Eating Disorder (BED) was added to the DSM-5, released in May 2013, as its own diagnostic category. This presentation will delve into how this addition affects opportunities for increased detection within clinical settings as well as what research is teaching us about effective interventions. Dr. Wilfley and Dr. Tanofsky-Kraff will discuss how community partnerships and innovative education models offer future direction for improving outreach and resource access to historically underserved populations in eating disorders.
